A Delta state senator representing Delta Central
senetorial zone senator Ovie Omo-Agege have decamped to All Progress
Congress (APC).
According to nghubs.com Sen Omo-Agege decamped from Labour Party to APC on Tuesday citing the crisis in Labour Party as his reason for decamping.
Sen Omo-Agege quoting section 68(1)g said
“Being a person whose election to the house was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that house was elected; Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored,”
Section 68 (1) (g) reads.
With his defection, the number of the APC senators has risen to 66 while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 42.
Senator Omo-Agege is the only Labour Party senator in the 8th House of the National Assembly.
