Reacting
to the defection, the Minority Whip of the House, Umar Barde, cited
Section 68 of Nigerian constitution which states that a legislator will

However, the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara ruled that only the court could decide the fate of both lawmakers.</blockquote>

A man, Damilola Adeyanju, has accused members of the Nigeria Police
Force of brutalising him and his friend over their inability to provide
receipts for their laptops.<br />
Adeyanju, who narrated his ordeal on his Instagram handle
@baggybaggz, said they were travelling to Lagos from Delta, where they
had gone for a friend’s wedding, when police officers attached to the
Special Anti-Robbery Squad stopped the bus they were in for a stop and
search.<br />
He said, “We all came down and were searched. They then proceeded to
our bags where they found a laptop belonging to one of us. They asked
for the receipt and the owner told them he’s had it for years and
doesn’t have it on him after which they grabbed his phone from him.
Getting to me, I also had my laptop and they requested for the
receipt as well, I said I don’t have it on me, then he (SARS guy) called
one of his colleagues to take the laptop to their patrol pickup truck
and told us to go stand by the truck.”<br />
Adeyanju alleged that they were arrested and taken to a police station, where they were tortured and their laptops seized.<br />

At
this moment I AM NOT PROUD TO BE A NIGERIAN, and we all are not
anywhere near being safe with any of these so-called “law enforcement”.
Please my experience below; I’m Damilola Adeyanju. On 13/04/2017 a
couple of my friends and I travelled to Warri, Delta state for a family
friend’s wedding to hold on the 15/04/2017. We decided to stay for some
extra days after the wedding to have a feel of Delta state since we
hardly leave Lagos normally, and so we left for Lag on 18/04/2017. That
fateful morning around 6am, we (6 of us) got to Greener Line Park and
chattered a 7 seater bus. At about 7:45am we took off, got to Sapele
express by 8:30 thereabout, we got stopped by SARS officials for stop
and search. We all came down and were searched. They then proceeded to
our bags where they found a laptop belonging to one of us. They asked
for the receipt and the owner told them he’s had it for years and
doesn’t have it on him after which they grabbed his phone from him.
Getting to me, I also had my laptop and they requested for the receipt
as well, I said I don’t have it on me, then he (SARS guy) called one of
his colleagues to take the laptop to their patrol pickup truck and told
us to go stand by the truck. Another Greener Line bus was stopped and
they alighted 4 other guys from it, told them to walk towards us and we
all get into the back of the truck. We asked why and the SARS pilot
shouted ‘obey before complain’. So they got in and drove us away.
Bystanders quickly told the Greener Line drivers and the rest of my
friends to go after us, because the so called SARS people could take us
to a bush and probably shoot us and go with our belongings. Fortunately
my phone was silent and undetected, so my friends were able to reach me
and I quietly told them we were still on the same express. The drivers
sped up and caught up with us. After driving for about 15mins, we
eventually got to a police station (OKUOVO). The got us out of the
truck, walked us into the station, pushed us forcefully behind the
counter and told us to sit on the floor. While all these was happening
we still didn’t know our offense.</div>

The
next thing we saw was them bringing out statement forms and called one
of the other 4 guys to the front, stripped him off his shirt and was
told to sit on the floor. The officer started asking the guy questions
and writing the statement for the guy, and at some point started
whipping him with wire. The guy’s back tore and started bleeding from
the beating. Out of fear and pain the guy was saying different stories. I
was just sitting on the floor looking at my friend like “o boy I no go
take this beating oh, we go die here today if e touch me with that wire”
Next thing the guy was cuffed and brought back behind the counter. I
quickly sent my mom a text message to send me the Commissioner of Police
for Lagos state’s number. She called and asked why, I stylishly picked
and told her what was up. She panicked and I had to cut the call, she
eventually sent the number but unfortunately myself and my friend were
next. My friend was told to sit on the floor I was told to stand, it was
two different officers interrogating us, the statement form was brought
out and the officer insisted on writing my friend’s statement. My
friend refused but was threatened so he had no choice but to sit back on
the floor because they were armed. So I quickly grabbed the pen from
the other officer that I was going to write mine myself. I was asked for
my profession and all and I wrote it all down. I’m an Aqua-scaper
(construction of aquariums and land scaping). They started asking who
could identify my business and I should write the names of my clients,
I’m like that has got nothing to do with what’s going on here… They
asked for proof of my work I told them I have pictures on my phone
showed them, even told them I just came back to Nigeria for this wedding
that I’m undergoing a course in South Africa and I showed them proof
and he was like they should cuff me, that I’m a cultist and my friend is
a kidnapper. Long story short, we got handcuffed until my friends (the
bride’s) mom came to our rescue. The cuffs were later taken off but then
they said we were in possession of stolen phones and laptops that they
won’t be given back to us until we provide the receipts.</div>

I
got angry and told him I will provide the receipt on the spot if he can
provide that of his phone and he said I was very stupid to question an
officer. My friends mom cried and begged but fell on deaf ears. I had
sneaked the number my mom sent on a piece of paper and passed it to my
friends outside. The “SARS” officials eventually drove off with the
other cuffed boys still with our laptops and phones. I called the
commissioner and he spoke to an officer of that police station (OKUOVO
station) and the officer said he doesn’t know the officers that arrested
us before he too ran away from the station on his okada, so it was just
us left in an empty police station. We waited till about 6pm and
eventually had to leave cos it was getting dark in the middle of
nowhere. We went back to warri. On 19/04/2017, at about 6:05am we were
back at the Greener Line park to get the bus to take us back to the
OKUOVO police station, on getting there it was empty. We decided to head
to the same spot we were stopped and eventually got to find them there
looking for more preys. I got out of the bus, called the Assistant
Commissioner of Police and approached BISHOP (that’s the only info I
could get of him), the leader of the “SARS gang”. He said he didn’t want
to talk to anybody and I delivered the message to the Commissioner. He
heard me say that, grabbed the phone from me and cut the call. He
slammed the phone on my chest and started pushing and kicking me, that I
should leave. While walking away he came towards my back and hit me at
the back of my head, as I turned to face him he began slapping me for no
reason. At that point I had enough of it, I got angry and raised my
hands in self defense to block the hits then I remembered he had a gun
and just walked away. They eventually got some more innocent people to
prey on and drove them to another police station (MOSOGAR) in Delta
state. We drove behind them, on getting there I didn’t come down from
the bus, my friends and the manager of Greener Line went in with them.
They were asked to pay N80,000 before our phones and laptops were
returned to us. THIS HAS TO STOP!!! Imagine how many innocent people
have lost their lives</div>

<img class="img" src="https://afrigrowth.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/NYSC-logo-1.jpg" /> </div>
The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to stories making
the rounds about the beating of a Corps member, Esi Uwakwe, serving in
Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, by the police purportedly at the instance
of an influential indigene of the area.<br />
<br />
Management wishes to
inform the public that findings of investigation launched by the Scheme
show that the facts of the case were grossly exaggerated, especially in
the social media.<br />
<br />
Our findings showed that the Corps member, who
is serving in a school, went beyond his responsibility of teaching and
adoption of acceptable approaches to discipline by causing knee injuries
to one of his students whom he instructed to crawl on his knees.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
The
angered father of the student took the matter to the police and in the
course of handling the case, an overzealous officer slapped the Corps
member.<br />
<br />
<script async="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- vwede_main_Blog1_300x250_as -->

<ins class="adsbygoogle" data-ad-client="ca-pub-7837971663817469" data-ad-slot="6063945836" style="display: inline-block; height: 250px; width: 300px;"></ins><script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
Our position on the matter is that both the Corps member and the policeman were wrong in their approaches.<br />
<br />
However,
we are pleased to note the step taken by the Zamfara State Commissioner
of Police, who invited all parties to his office for amicable
resolution of the case.<br />
<br />
The overzealous policeman has since apologized for slapping the Corps member and the matter has been put to rest.<br />
<br />
Management
wishes to stress that the picture of a man with cuts on his back, which
is being circulated online, is not that of Corps member Uwakwe, but
merely posted with intent to cause mischief and further mislead the
public.<br />
<br />
While we sympathize with both the injured student and the
Corps member, whose inexperience might have resulted in his excesses in
his approach to discipline, we wish to restate that the publicity the
case generated would have been normal if not for the exaggeration.<br />
<br />
Management
remains committed to safety and dignity of Corps members, but wishes to
advise those on teaching assignment to always exercise caution in
handling disciplinary cases and to, especially, refer serious cases to
their school supervisors to be on the safe side.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01706806744513983556noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589746288486025822.post-24645271916482379302017-03-07T14:54:00.000+01:002017-03-07T15:04:55.080+01:00Senator Omo Agege Decamps To APC<d async="" script="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></d>

<img class="attachmentimage img" src="http://www.nairaland.com/attachments/4964878_recession_jpeg2b11f6862c5ee5549d5d5cdb3b5ec64f" height="300" width="400" /> </div>
A country is confirmed to be in a recession when
there is a decline in its Gross Domestic Product for two consecutive
quarters. It’s a period of general slowdown in economic activities with
resultant effect of rise in unemployment, bankruptcies, fall in profits,
investment spending and inflation. Recessions normally happen when
there is a pervasive fall in spending as a result of certain events such
as an asset bubble, financial crisis or external trade shock.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Economists
generally recommend for countries to spend their way out of a recession
and this could be achieved through quantitative easing, reducing taxes
and increasing government spending.<br />
<br />
Nigeria is currently
experiencing its first recession in decades caused by a severe fall in
crude oil prices which usually accounts for about 85% of its foreign
exchange earnings, leading to a reduction in revenue receipts and steep
devaluation of its currency. This is not just a recession but a
stagflation. Stagflation is when you have high inflation and weak
economic growth at the same time. This makes it challenging as
government cannot easily spend its way out of recession due to the
inflationary challenge.<br />
<br />
<script async="" src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- vwede_sidebar-right-1_AdSense1_300x250_as -->
<br />
<ins class="adsbygoogle" data-ad-client="ca-pub-7837971663817469" data-ad-slot="7733981039" style="display: inline-block; height: 250px; width: 300px;"></ins><script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>The implication is that this recession
may not disappear quickly making it necessary to map out survival
strategies. Outlined below are ways to stay afloat during a recession.<br />
<br />
<b>Discuss it with your family and staff</b>:
Its going to be a tough time so you need to have a talk and get
everyone’s buy in. let your family members understand why certain
expenses will be cut off from the family budget during this period. Your
staff will also need to be on the same page with you when certain
decisions that may affect their welfare but necessary for the company’s
survival are taken.<br />
<br />
<b>Cut Spending where necessary</b>: Every
unreasonable and unnecessary expense should be taken off the family or
business budget. Look out for deals which will offer more for less and
also demand for discounts where necessary. Cash saved from expenses can
be pushed into savings. For business, cutting costs may mean downsizing
to reduce labor costs.<br />
<br />
<b>Repay or reduce loans</b>: Debt comes
at a cost and it will be a wise decision to repay all loans as you will
save on the interest paid. Focus on repaying the most expensive debts
first before the less expensive ones. Credit card debts should be
avoided.<br />
<br />
<b>Put more money into savings</b>: savings act as a
buffer and in times of recession the more one saves the better prepared
one becomes. Cash is king and opportunities will spring up in recession
times which you can take advantage of if you are well prepared.<br />
<br />
<b>Look out for additional revenue streams</b>:
New streams of income will assist in these moments and will help boost
savings. This can be done by starting an online business, a network
marketing business or seeking out new passive business opportunities. A
lot of jobs are lost during recession and creating new streams of
incomes will assist in the event of job loss or down turn in business.<br />
<br />
<b>Work harder than before</b>:
As an employee you need to work harder than before to enable you keep
your job in the event that your organization decides to downsize. You
may have to come earlier to work and close later than usual, this is
when you have to prove your worth at work.<br />
<br />
<b>Focus on quality rather than price reduction</b>:
As a business man you have to create more value for your customers to
keep them and not necessarily reducing prices as there may be no
justification to raise them back when the recession is gone.<br />

A local Nigerian footballer Harrison Chinedu, remarkably broke the Guiness World record of cycling for 64 miles with a football balanced on his head.</div>
<div>
Wearing the Super Eagles jersey, Chinedu rode his bicycle with a ball on his head from the beach to the National stadium, Surulere, while fans, drivers and passers by, sang and cheered him on as he attempted the bizarre feat.</div>
<div>
According to Chinedu, he had tried the feat in March this year but failed when he reached 30 miles, but after several rehearsals and training, made up his mind to carry out the feat again.</div>
<div>
After the feat, he said:</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<div>
“My biggest motivation was that I believe in showcasing my God-given talent. I know I have the skill and I want to show the world what I can do. This one is a record created by me and I am happy that I have done my own side. And it's left for the Guinness World Records to ratify it and bring back results."</div>

signatures cunningly on the divorce papers that Roshni had given
Siddharth. Simran knows what she is doing is wrong but thinks that this
is the only way she can sort out the issues in Siddharth's life. Simran
hides the divorce papers in the bunch of papers in the file. Siddharth
starts to read the papers before signing them. Simran is tensed as she
sees Siddharth reading the papers. Siddharth one by one reads the
details of the contract. Simran tries to distract him by offering him
some breakfast. Siddharth starts to drink the juice and starts signing
the papers. The moment Siddharth is about to see the divorce papers when
he gets an urgent call and Simran cunningly hiding the divorce papers
takes Siddharth's signatures on them. Siddharth in a hurry signs the
papers and leaves for an urgent meeting.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Durgardevi comes to
Yash's house with the shagun for the wedding and she is very happy that
Roshni has found her soul mate in Yash. Durgardevi realizes that Yash's
sister Mihika looks a bit hesitant and she asks her to speak up if there
is any problem. Mihika tells Durgardevi that they are excited about
Yash and Roshni's wedding but tomorrow if Siddharth refuses to divorce
Roshni then what will they do? Durgardevi realizes that Mihika is right
and while they sit and discuss how to handle the situation Yash gets a
call from Rajveer saying if he wants to marry Roshni without any kind of
hiccups created by Siddharth, then to meet him at Durgardevi's old
house.<br />
Rajveer is pleased and steps out of his cabin only to find
Naani at the reception waiting to meet Siddharth. He asks Naani what is
the matter but Naani is adamant on speaking to Siddharth only. Instead,
Rajveer humiliates Naani that he will asks the watchman to kick her out
and asks her rudely to leave. Naani refuses to leave until she has met
Siddharth. Rajveer holds Naani's hand and pushes her out of the office.
Naani is shocked at the behaviour and quietly leaves. At home both
Roshni and Durgardevi are frantically making calls trying to find out
where Naani is? Naani refuses to speak to anyone but Roshni finds out
that Naani had gone to meet Siddharth. Durgardevi tells Naani that she
should not go there and get humiliated. Naani tells Durgardevi that she
couldn't meet Siddharth and that he would never humiliate her. Naani is
sure that no one can break Siddharth and Roshni's marriage. Just then
Simran comes there that she has broken it and gives Roshni the divorce
paper's with Siddharth's signatures on it. Simran tells Roshni that she
is a free bird and can get married on Holi festival. Siddharth too has
given her the permission to remarried. Roshni feels devastated seeing
this and Durgardevi gets happy and thinks there will be hindrance in
this marriage. Yash too hears this and is pleased.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" class="spotlight" data-sf-skip="1" src="https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/14980556_10154676554189889_2883676385794396487_n.jpg?oh=9d4f0611fab8b9701b2d830eef973578&oe=58CC5765" /></div>
At
Durgardevi's house, Durgardevi is busy preparing for the wedding and
arranging Roshni's wedding dress and jewelry and Yash's sherwani. Naani
tries to offer them a cup of tea and purposely drops it on Yash's
sherwani. This time Durgardevi tells Naani that she knows that Naani is
doing this on purpose and she should stop doing these childish things.
Naani tells Durgardevi that a mere signature on the papers will not
break Siddharth and Roshni's relation. Durgardevi is not at all moved by
Naani's speech and tells Babloo to arrange for another sherwani for
Yash. Tomorrow night, after Holi celebrations, Yash and Roshni will get
married. Durgardevi is determined. Naani is thoughtful.<br />
Roshni is
packing her things in her room and she sees the dupatta that had fallen
on Siddharth's face the first time they had met. Roshni cannot believe
that Siddharth would divorce her so easily. Roshni realizes that may be
Siddharth really signed the divorce papers to keep her happy. She only
wishes Siddharth would have himself come to give her the divorce papers
instead of sending it through his mother Simran. Just then, Siddharth
calls up Roshni but Durgardevi answers the call and tells Siddharth
never to call them again. Siddharth tells her no matter how she yells
she will not deter his decisions and asks her to give the phone to
Roshni but she hang on on him. He realizes that there Is something
wrong, he tells his father that he is going to meet Roshni and rushes
out from his house. Durgardevi tells Roshni that she will keep Roshni's
phone with her just in case Siddharth calls up once again and tells
Roshni to hurry up, they need to leave for Lonavla for the wedding.
Roshni cannot believe that she is marrying Yash.<br />
Meanwhile
Siddharth reaches Roshni's place and sees that the door is locked. He
asks a neighbour who says she does not know anything. Just then he sees
Roshni's dupatta there and bouquet on the floor, he picks it and smiles.
Siddharth is determined to find Roshni no matter where she is.<br />
Durgardevi decides to get Roshni married to Yash on Holi festival.
Siddharth calls Naani up and finds out that Durgardevi has his and
Roshni's divorce papers with his signatures on it, so now, Roshni can
legally marry Yash. Siddharth is shocked as he had not signed any such
papers. Simran Siddharth's mother had slyly taken his signatures on the
papers. Siddharth, now with Bulbul, Purabh ( both from Kumkum Bhagya ).
Payal ( Aarti from Punar Vivah ), and Pratibha's help tries to retrieve
the fake divorce papers so that he can stop Yash and Roshni's wedding.
Just as Siddharth is about to stop the wedding, new Sanam hits Siddharth
on the head with a rod and he faints.<br />
Yash and Roshni are at the
mandap, the Pundit ask Yash to apply the Sindoor on the bride forehead.
Yash is about to apply the sindoor on Roshni's forehead when Siddharth
fires water out of a water gun. The sindoor mixed with water falls on
Roshni's forehead. Siddharth enters the mandap and Durgardevi is furious
to see him. Siddharth tells Durgardevi that he is still legally married
to Roshni and that he was tricked into signing the papers which is why
the papers would not be valid in the court of law and promises to marry
Roshni once again in a matter of ten days, tears the divorce papers in
front of her and leaves. Durgardevi, Yash and Roshni are shocked as
Siddharth tears the divorce papers and walks away. Yash and Mihika leave
too telling Durgardevi that this wasn't expected. Roshni cannot believe
this and Durgardevi hugs Roshni.<br />
Rajveer on the other hand tells
Simran that he tried his best to stop Siddharth but Siddharth did apply
the sindoor to Roshni and promised to marry her in ten days. Simran
refuses to accept Roshni back into the house. Kritika supports
Siddharth's decision and tells her mother that she should not stand in
between Roshni and Siddharth as they love each other. Simran still
adamant sticks to her stand of not letting Roshni enter her house and
leaves angrily. The moment Simran leaves, Rajveer angrily comes to
Kritika demanding how she dare support Siddharth and Roshni. Just then
Raj Khurana comes there and stops him. Rajveer realizes that he cannot
dominate Kritika and leaves. Siddharth's father tells Kritika that he is
happy to know that his daughter has learnt the difference between right
and wrong and that he is very proud of her and now he will tell
everyone that his daughter his back. Kritika hugs her father and a tear
trickles down her cheeks.<br />
Durgardevi is furious that Siddharth
ruined her plan. Roshni asks her mother Durgardevi why she didn't tell
her that Siddharth had not signed the papers. Durgardevi asks Roshni
what would she do had she found out that Siddharth had not signed the
papers? Would she go back to Siddharth? Right then, Naani comes there
and tells Durgardevi that Roshni would have gone back to Siddharth. She
further tells Durgardevi to look at Roshni and see how much Roshni love
him and that Siddharth once again applied the sindoor on Roshni's
forehead and remarried her and she should go back to him and Roshni did
not say anything. The way Roshni behaves around Siddharth clearly shows
that Roshni loves Siddharth. Durgardevi tells Naani she is prejudiced
towards Siddharth and will favour him above everyone else. Naani agrees
and tells Durgardevi that she knows Siddharth very well and he is a good
man but she knows that Durgardevi will not understand and that today if
Roshni is with her it is because of Siddharth who values only
relationship and not money. Naani tells Roshni that she has let her
mother take her life's decisions quite a few times but just this once to
listen to her and is sure that Roshni will be happy.<br />
Meanwhile,
Yash is at his house, drinking alcohol and is upset that Siddharth
ruined his wedding with Roshni and remember how Siddharth remarried her (
Roshni ). Just then Rajveer calls him but Yash disconnects his call.
Rajveer calls him again and informs him that Siddharth is climbing
through the pipe to go into Roshni's room and once they are alone, he
does not need to tell Yash the possibilities that will open up for the
two of them as Siddharth has remarried her and has complete right on
Roshni. Yash angrily hangs up the phone and breaks the glass cup.<br />
On the other hand, Roshni is busy checking her book shelf when
Siddharth reaches into Roshni's room to surprise her. Roshni is shocked
to see Siddharth and is about to scream but Siddharth places his hand on
Roshni's mouth and stops her from screaming. Siddharth sees Roshni's
shocked expression and asks her if she is wondering how did he come
here? He reminds Roshni that he had climbed 25 floors and entered her
mother's penthouse for her and if he can do that before, her 4 floors
are very easy for him. Roshni tells Siddharth to leave but he refuses to
go that it's his wife house and he can come any time. Roshni is stunned
to see Siddharth so confident and tries to walk away. Instead Siddharth
pulls her back and hugs her. Roshni gets emotional and reciprocates to
his moves. She nervous stammers and tells him what he is doing is wrong.
Siddharth tells Roshni that he is her husband and he has all the right
to romance with her. Just then, someone knocks on the door. Roshni is
scared and goes to open the door but Siddharth is about to kiss her.
Yash barges into the room with Durgardevi and they are shocked to see
Siddharth trying to kiss Roshni.<br />
Durgardevi demands to know form
Roshni why did she let this goon (Siddharth) into the house. Siddharth
tells Durgardevi that he is Roshni's husband and not a goon and he has
the right to meet Roshni whenever and wherever he wants. Yash sees this
and angrily leaves. Roshni is about to go after him but Siddharth pulls
her back to hug her once again and tells her that she can speak to Yash
later on. Durgardevi is furious to see this and tells Siddharth to leave
from her house right away. Siddharth tells Durgardevi that he is
leaving and reminds his mother in-law ( Durgardevi ) that within the
next 9 days Roshni will come back to his house after all once married,
it is ideal for daughters to live with their husbands. Siddharth once
again decides to go down through the window. The moment Siddharth walks
towards the window, Roshni tries to stop him. Siddharth sees this and is
pleased and decides to leave through the main door. Durgardevi is
shocked to see that Roshni still has feelings for Siddharth.<br />
Yash
still angry gets into the car to leave for somewhere. Mihika comes
there, ask him to calm down and tells Yash not to lose hope. All is not
lost yet. Yash tells Mihika that he just cannot convince Roshni that he
loves her more than Siddharth. Everytime Siddharth does something
because of which Roshni is again pulled towards him. Yash doesn't think
Roshni would ever love him. Durgardevi comes there and assures Yash that
she will make sure Roshni falls in love with him and further tells Yash
that tomorrow they will be leaving for Jamnagar where Roshni's aunt is
going through a complicated pregnancy and the entire family is going
there to be by her side. Once they reach there, she will try to
brainwash Roshni and then she will call Yash too there where he and
Roshni can spend some time with each other and things will be fine.</div>
